ABOUT ME

I have spent over 15 years building systems that serve people and honor their full humanity. As a first-generation Nigerian-American woman who has led across community colleges, research universities, and health systems in both the United States and Canada, I bring a perspective shaped by navigating complex institutions and by the cultural wisdom of the communities that raised me. Rooted in Yoruba philosophy, where character (ìwà) is the foundation of leadership, my work lives at the intersection of strategy, equity, and human development.

Today, I partner with institutions and leaders to build equitable, high-performing organizations, and I speak on topics including compliance strategy and culturally responsive leadership. I also teach graduate courses in Adult and Higher Education at Western Washington University, bringing a commitment to meeting people where they are and cultivating who they are capable of becoming.

My leadership experience includes serving as Dean of Student Development at Seattle Central College, where I oversaw student leadership and engagement, disability resources, health and wellness, and student support programs across a multi-campus system. As Director of Student Wellness at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, I led clinical counseling, health services, multifaith programs, and campus-wide wellness strategy.

My scholarly work examines the structures that shape access and belonging in higher education. My doctoral dissertation, Funnel Vision: Through the Looking Glass of Recruitment and Admission Practices, draws on Critical Race Theory and Social Reproduction Theory to explore how graduate admissions policies align with equity and justice. This critical lens continues to guide my consulting, teaching, and speaking.

Beyond the Work

When I’m building strategy and encouraging institutions to be braver, I’m also immersed in Yoruba history and philosophy, tending to my garden, moving through a yoga practice, skiing, and exploring Pacific Northwest trails with my dog, Arya. I spend time at the ballet, orchestra, and concerts, drawn to the discipline and beauty of the arts. I also stay connected to community through meaningful volunteering. I’m a sci-fi and fantasy devotee, a committed foodie, and someone who believes that rest and joy are essential, central to a well-lived life.
